Hard Times Hit Fashion Week

Can we please get a stimulus package for the fashion industry? IMG Fashion, which organizes Fashion Week, have about 80 designers on its schedule. However, only 52 have been confirmed for February Fashion Week. The lineup won't be finalized for another two weeks, but IMG senior vice-president Fern Mallis still expects a "full schedule." Zac Posen still hasn't decided whether to show or not and other designers could be in a similar position. So what will fashion week be without all the running and rushing from tent to tent. However there are a few designer returning to the tents, Tommy Hilfiger and William Rast, who have traditionally not shown in the tents. With the economy in not doing so well, designers don't see Fashion Week as cost effective. Just renting a tent that seats 350 to 1,100 people costs $25,000 to $50,000 and that doesn't include the hair, makeup, models.
