Real Life Gossip Girl On Bravo

Bravo has just been unloading a plethora of new shows on us. I swear they are striving to be the most watched network for reality TV. But, there's a new show in town "NYC Prep" and it appears to be the real life version of the highly talked about CW hit "Gossip Girl". The show is due to air June 16 at 11PM and then it's regular time slot will be Tuesdays at 10pm .

"NYC Prep chronicles the lives of a group of privileged teenagers who are key players in Manhattan's elite high school scene. Students who travel in packs – whether it's on sophisticated vacations or to a townhouse for an exclusive midnight party, their lives intertwine as they network, shop, party, study, date and write college applications. Everyone's beautiful and everyone's connected. On the surface, it seems that these teens live an enviable life. They have access and privilege to spare, and can't imagine that anything or anyone, will get in their way. Over the course of the series, we'll see them on the benefit circuit, viewers will get to know their families, their entourage (trainers, college application advisors, stylists) and their guys/girls of the moment. But privilege has its price. Despite their carefree lives, the pressure of lofty expectations can sometimes be too much for even the most confident teenagers."

Although, these teens are not has beautiful as the cast of GG, this should make for a good TV. I can't wait.

Project Runway Casting Has Begun For Season 7

It started feeling like "Project Runway" would never return to TV but finally Lifetime has begun casting for the show's seventh season. Auditions are to be held in Atlanta, Chicago, Los Angeles, New York City and Seattle and the deadline to submit applications is April 24, so if you're a fashionisto or a fashionista, go to this link for more details on how to get on the show.

Say It Ain't So....Angelina Is Prego.... Again?

I really don't have anything to say about this, I just can't take it.

Here's what Star magazine had to say:

"In the April 27 issue of Star — on sale today! — we exclusively reveal that Hollywood's most famous parents, Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt, are adding another child to their clan.
"Yes, Angie is pregnant," a family insider tells Star. "They'd been trying for another baby for months, but it was still a total shock when she found out. Brad and Angie have been fighting so much lately, it just didn't seem possible."
A source close to the actress confirms that Angie is about two and a half months along. "She's thrilled. She said she knew she was pregnant before the test confirmed it!" But she kept the news from Brad, only telling him when he returned from a trip to New Orleans at the end of March.
Baby number seven couldn't be coming at a better time because, as Star has reported, the duo have been fighting since Angie caught Brad warmly comforting a nanny in February.
"It happened just in time, because things were getting pretty ugly between them," says one source".

The $3000.00 Bikini.... And You Can't Swim In It

Maybe, the fashion industry just doesn't understand that America's in a RECESSION!!!!! I am so tired of that word, but it was really needed. A London based company Selfridges is selling a $2,986 Bikini called "The Anita." Oh, but there's a gotcha-gotcha you cannot swim in the bathing suit!!!! The swim suit or the lay-around-and-look-cute- and-broke- suit is made by a label called Pistol Panties and features 5,000 Swarovski crystals. Somehow and someway there's a waiting list, who in the world can afford this?

And Another One......

Geeesh, Bravo TV is really trying to make up for the lost of Project Runway. So far we have "The Fashion Show" and "Launch My Line" and now we have a new show about Kelly Cutrone. The show will including a behind-the-scenes look at Kelly's professional and personal life as a fashion-PR bigwig in "Kell on Earth". If you don't know who Kelly is by now, you must live under a rock or not watch much TV. She's a cut throat, tell-it-like-it-is, hard working, hard looking (Bad! I know) PR women, who's working really hard to get her company People Revolution to be the elite is fashion PR. She is also married to Andy Warhol's protége Ronnie Cutrone. Kelly thoroughly embarrassed Allie on "The City" and Stephanie Pratt on "The Hills", so this should be good. And rumor has it, Whitney Port of "The City" has left DVF to go back with her mentor Kelly at People Revolution. Dumb move, but we'll see.

Is TopShop Causing It's Own Frenzy?

Page Six has reported this week that the lines at Topshop really aren't that necessary but, just another publicity stunt to make the store look popular. With a nightclub-esque feel there are doormen who are purposely not letting in enough people at once, so that there are always people waiting outside In these economically times can a retailer really afford to lose any customer because of stunts like this. I mean, lets be honest if you're on your lunch break and you have an hour, are you really going to wait in line at Topshop for 45 min just to get in. I can understand not letting the store get crowded, but we all know those crowds only last a few days and then it's business as usual. Bad Topshop, just bad!!!

Bravo Has A New Show!!

With Project Runway in it's past Bravo has been looking for a replacement, we all thought The Fashion Show judged by Fern Mallis and Isaac Mizrahi, in which designers compete to have their clothes sold at retail was it. It looks like we all were wrong! The new show is called Launch My Line. Here's what Reuters had to say about the show.

Originally titled "Celebrity Sew Off," the series features a group of famous faces vying to launch their own clothing line. Each contestant will be paired with a fashion design expert who will help realize the celebrity's creative vision.

Not sure how well this is going to be received, I mean who cares about a bunch of celebs using very talented artist and then slapping there names on the label...... not interested. But, I will give it a try.

Jonathan Adler Designs Barbie Dream House

As a kid, I loved Barbie. I wanted to be Barbie. Be beautiful and not a whole lot of responsibility. Sure, occasional crime fighting and “doing it” with Ken (at least that’s what my Barbie did), but most of the time it just involved changing clothes, riding around in my Corvette and hanging out in my dream house. What a lovely, if somewhat lazy, little fantasy.

Well, leave it to Jonathan Adler to have me start thinking about being Barbie again. For her 50th birthday celebration March 9th (her actual birthday), Adler designed a REAL Barbie Malibu Dream House. And it’s way better than a house you fold in half when your Mom calls you for dinner! The 3,500-square-foot pad overlooking the Pacific Ocean is incredibly chic, utterly adorable and totally over the top in a way only a doll house could be.

The house, which took six months of planning and a few weeks to install, is not open to the public (boo hiss!) But in May after the festivities subside, parts of the house will be shipped to the Palms Casino in Vegas for a Barbie suite. And come September, you can bring a bit of Barbie into your very own decor with the “Jonathan Adler Loves Barbie” collection. It will include designer pottery, pillows, decorative objects and more. For the true Barbie fanatic, a collectors doll designed by Adler is forthcoming as well, complete with furniture.

Jonathan Adler takes you on a tour of the Malibu home at Youtube.com. Enjoy!

$595 for Jeans?

While we love Donna Karan for being... well, Donna Karan, her new jeans line is raising some plucked eyebrows in fashion circles. Her first-ever Collection jeans are just hitting the stores -- with the eye-popping price tag of $595!

The jeans are bias cut -- a diagonal fabric cutting technique used to accentuate curves and body lines. They're made in Italy of 98% cotton and 2% elastine for "give" room, without side seams, so the leg looks longer and leaner. The hardware trim is a design collaboration with Karan's longtime friend Robert Lee Morris, who has his own jewelry line. Each pair of jeans comes with an inspirational saying printed inside the front pocket, and every button and rivet is applied by hand.

Bottom line: If you've got the money to burn on these, go for it, but $595 for a pair of jeans seems a bit ridiculous these days.

Vogue May 2009: Faces of the Moment

It's that time again, when we all get excited to see who Vogue US deem to be one of the Faces of the Moment. This issue is usually a collectors item.

The girls who made this epic issue are: (from left to right)Liya Kebede, Natalia Vodianova, Anna Jagodzinska, Isabeli Fontana, Lara Stone, Jourdan Dunn, Raquel Zimmermann, Caroline Trentini and Natasha Poly.

The cover was shot by Steven Meisel, who is featured in a special article about his lasting influence on the world of modelling.

Leighton Meester For New York Times Magazine

Gossip Girl star Leighton Meester appears in the latest New York Times Magazine, in a vibrant editorial entitled, The Girl with Kaleidoscope Pants. The clothes in the editorial have bold colours, geometric prints, and some 80s silhouettes. She wears designs by Roberto Cavalli (top pic in dress) and Alexander McQueen (above).

Here are some extracts from her interview:
On her personal style influencing what Blair wears on the show: "Not at all. If anything, it’s the opposite. Her style is a little expensive for my taste, but it loudly communicates that she is who she is and that she does what she does. I find that admirable. And she’s always dressed appropriately, which I can’t always say about myself."

On doing movies: "Well, first I'm going on a much-deserved vacation. Then I'm starting work on a comedy called Date Night with Steve Carell and Tina Fey. I play the babysitter and they go out for a date one night and everything goes awry. After that I'm starring in this crazy movie called The Roommate, which is directed by Christian Christiansen and is sort of a re-telling of Single White Female. I'm the emotionally detached narcissist, but it's early days and I still don’t know who’s playing the psycho opposite me."

On the rumors that she was born while her parents were in jail: "This is the type of thing that you can't be too sensitive about - it's not like I did anything that's worth talking about. I love my parents very much, but people either continue or break the patterns of what their life should be and I just want to completely break whatever patterns would lead me to the same life choices that they made."

On what happens to Blair next season: "It's yet to be decided, but I'm definitely going to college - to NYU - and not wearing any more school uniforms. Thank god we're not pretending we all get held back and just continue with high school like all those other high school shows. I guess I'll wear magnificent clothes every day that don't have anything to do with school."

Forever 21 Heads To Court

We all know Forever 21 offers pretty much the best knock-off for your bucks on designer clothing. They have been sued by DVF and L.A.M.B for it's copies of there designer lines. But this is the first time Forever will go to court and a jury will decide. For over two years, Trovata has been fighting with Forever 21 over a batch of shirts it made that Forever 21 allegedly copied. In the picture Above you can see they look identical (Forever 21 at the top, and Trovata at the bottom. In my opinion the Forever shirts look better). The verdict could change how far Forever 21 and other fast-fashion chains can go on copying designer labels.
