Designer Spotlight: Sika

Sika is a brand inspired by Ghana's rich and diverse culture and it's also produced there. They mix traditional fabrics {tie-dye, batik, and wax prints} in their collections with the trends of London to come-up with some really incredible pieces. I heart ALL of the looks below! Here are various pieces from the Spellbound & Wonderland Collections. Sikadesigns.com

Introducing: Ixbalamke Shoes

Rei Ixbalamke’s ability to intertwine classic shapes with architectural-like details is something to admire. Her classic pumps with their beautiful plunging line or her booties with cut-outs and patent leather trimmings topped in white — all drool worthy and beyond the "it" factor. Ixbalamke creates shoes that are investments. She's more than a designer to watch, she belongs in your closet. Check out more classics at Ixbalamke.com.

Another Side Of Anna Wintour

The so called "Iced Queen" (whom I love by the way, and will sit very close too one day at Fashion Week) was on letterman this week. Surprisingly she came across very smooth, funny and not so cold. Check out the very beginning I think Letterman asked her to take off her signature glasses. Click on the link to view: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xw_XJdqz6H0

Linda Evangelista The Chameleon

V Magazine’s Issue #61 has a stunningly colorful tribute to the great Linda Evangelista, where "the super", shot by Sebastian Faena and styled by Sofia Achaval, shows that she really does have a serious chameleon appeal. Barbarella, androgynous, pin-up glam, …this is one mannequin who really can do it all.

The book does much more than simply outline the importance of a little black dress; instead it aims to navigate through all of life’s rocky waters by applying the fashion icon’s philosophy and vitality. Filled with a sharp wit, the guidebook offers a slew of crucial life lessons for the Coco in all of us, including: “Enjoy being loved. Cast yourself as the romantic heroine.”

Jean Paul Gaultier To Leave Hermes?

Say it ain't so!!!!!!! Change is brewing at Hermès, and it's starting with Jean Paul Gaultier. The designer is said to be resigning from the company; his last collection for the house is due to bow in Paris this October. In addition to producing his collections of ready-to-wear and haute couture, Gaultier has spent the last six years as Hermès' creative director following Martin Margiela's resignation in early 2003. Gaultier's accomplished tenure at Hermès has been ruled by critical runway acclaim and tremendous profitability, reinforcing the brand's desirable status as one of the most recession-proof luxury houses.

Lifetime Has Struck It Big

Reported from New York Magazine: "Lifetime debut on Thursday of last week drew 4.2 million viewers — more than any season premiere in the series's history — making it the highest-rated competition-style reality-show premiere so far this year on cable. Models of the Runway drew 1.9 million viewers, while the All-Star Challenge drew 2.9 million viewers. This, Lifetime boasts in a press release, reaffirms its position as the No. 1 network for women. Sounds like it's time for a cupcake party over there." Wow Bravo has really messed up, but then again they do still have the Housewives (and oh how we love the drama) and Rachel Zoe. They will be fine.
